Various Kinds of Aerial Lift
Aerial lifts are a particular kind of heavy equipment which allows workers to be raised into the air. These machinery can be used to perform maintenance and repairs in areas that are high up in the air like on roofs, near street-light fixtures and power lines. Similar to the majority of tools, there are different kinds of aerial lifts that could be used to carry out a variety of tasks. For the utmost safety, each kind of different kind of machine requires proper training and specific certification before operation.
Scissor Lifts
Scissor lifts are often known as Genie lifts. They are considered the most basic kind of aerial lift. These lifts are made of a platform that is raised up using pneumatic power and are mainly used indoors. Normally, scissor lifts are the safest kind of lift models. When totally compressed, these scissor lifts can be driven like big carts. Usually, when the platform is extended, they are not able to be driven for safety reasons. Before anyone could use these devices, workers should be licensed as operators.
Boom Lifts
The boom lift is a a lot more complex type of aerial lift equipment compared to a scissor lift. The boom lift normally has a much wider base in order to keep the lift anchored. It uses a jointed arm which has a bucket on the end of it. There is a control box situated in the bucket that enables the operator to raise and lower the bucket. Because the arm of the boom is jointed, it could also move from side to side. The boom lift resembles a tail of a metal scorpion. Usually, it is used in construction applications outdoors. The boom lift is considered to be more risky to operate compared to scissor lifts, thus, operators must be certified separately for these kinds of lifts.
