Reach Truck
In order to keep storage areas orderly and to stock up supplies and pallets of goods, a reach truck could be used. The reach truck is available in several models: the straddle reach, stand-up reach and the double-deep reach.
The stand-up is the simplest. The truck forks slide underneath the pallet and move it to the appropriate storage place. The forks slide the pallet into position. This particular kind of reach truck is recommended when shelving units are only one pallet in depth.
Best for workplaces where the shelving units are deep enough to accommodate two pallets of goods, the double-deep reach truck, that is similar to the stand-up, is usually used. This version has telescopic forks designed to position the pallet at the back of the shelving unit. This eliminates the need to push the pallet back when another pallet should go into the same shelving section.
The added advantage of straddle reaches is that they could both slide beneath the pallet and grasp the sides also. These are recommended for workplaces where shelving units could be accessed in many directions. This model is ideal in situations where goods would not be damaged if the sides of the pallet are grabbed.
Inside most warehouses, there are usually more than one kind of reach truck. Textile companies and manufacturing facilities use various kinds of reach trucks in their supply areas. The reach truck is not hard to utilize and could maximize available storage space while increasing productivity.
