Narrow aisle forklifts
Narrow aisle forklifts are generally utilized within warehousing operations. These forklifts are vital equipments in the business as their extreme maneuverability and small size allow warehouses to make the most of storing space. They can easily go around aisles as narrow as 1.8 meters wide, while typical lift trucks need at least 3.4 meters of aisle width.
The two types are "narrow aisle forklift" and the "very narrow aisle forklift". The former require 2.4 meters - 3 meters in aisle width, while the latter can function in a 1.8 meters wide space.
The design of a narrow aisle forklift includes forks positioned at right angles to the body of the truck. The trucks do not need to face the shelves, but instead drive straight down the aisle picking up loads to the side. This particular design feature is the key to their suitability for tight spaces.
Several very narrow aisle forklifts come with optical or wire guidance systems that make sure that the forklift moves in a straight line down the aisle, that leaves the operator free to focus on load placement and picking.
The cushion tires which come with these types of lifts are made of solid rubber. The hard tires perform well on paved, smooth surfaces and concrete floors. Narrow aisle forklifts have electric motors suited for use within indoor places. Propane-powered models are available also.
