How to Charge a Scissor Lift
There is a great convenience when using a scissor lift, since the ease of working and the lift basket's security gives peace of mind while attempting to perform tasks that would have otherwise needed working off the rung of a ladder. The safety risks involved with this machinery make it the right alternative for carrying tasks from heights.
Nearly all scissor lifts are powered electrically by batteries which have been mounted directly onto the machine. These batteries will have to be charged following a long shift or after sitting for extended periods without use. It is an easy task to charge the batteries. This can be done without any particular equipment or tools and needs no heavy labor.
The equipment has to be parked near an electrical output so as to prepare the scissor lift for charging. This charging place must also be in a well-ventilated place. Then, in order to avoid another operator from driving away with the lift plugged in, press the emergency shut-off switch. The emergency shut off switch is the big red button situated near the charger or the control box, inside the basket of the lift. Find the battery charger on the base of the lift on the right side. Usually, models that are older would have the charger mounted on the rear of the lift.
The AC extension cord should next be plugged into the charger. Be certain to charge in a well ventilated place and plug the cord into an electrical outlet. In order to avoid accidental damage from being run over, the length of the electrical cord on the battery charger is intentionally short. This is because if any excess length were to drop out of the battery charger storage area when in use, extreme danger could likely occur.
