Lift Truck Parts in More Detail
There are hundreds of parts that make up a lift truck. The lift truck's key components comprise the frame of the truck, the engine parts, the overhead guard, the tilt cylinders and the wheels. Also, a forklift consists of different types of attachments. All the parts making up a lift truck are all essential because they work together to make the equipment's operation possible. The following paragraphs describe a few of the lift truck components in detail.
The Overhead Guard - The overhead guard is actually the lift truck's metal roof, which sits atop the operator cab. It's job is to protect the operator whilst they are using the machine. The overhead guard ensures that nothing falling from above onto the truck will damage the controls inside the cab or hurt the driver. The overhead guard is integral to the frame assembly on various models.
The Mast - the mast is a vertical assembly made of interlocking rails and mounted either to the front axle or the forklift frame. The mast provides lateral stability and allows the forks to move up and down. The interlocking rails may either have bushings or bushings as guides. There are two ways the mast can be operated: chain operated with motive power provided by a hydraulic motor or hydraulically by one or more hydraulic cylinders.
Forklift Carriage - The carriage is the component which the forks and different other types of attachments are mounted to. Actually, the carriage is directly attached to the hydraulic cylinder and is connected by chains. To enable the forks to be raised and lowered, the carriage can have either bushings or rollers to guide it in the interlocking mast rails.
Load Back Rest - a back rest is a metal rack which keeps a load from falling backwards while the carriage is lifted to its full height. The back rest is either bolted or welded on to the carriage.
Lift Truck Attachments - a range of attachments can be fixed to the front of the forklift truck. The most common kind of attachment is forks. Moreover, there are rotators, rollers, L-shaped members, pole handlers, roll clamps and and all that. These various attachments are really useful for transporting different kinds of loads.
