Types of Aisles
Narrow Aisle and Wide Aisle lift trucks are classed due to the kinds of aisles they have been designed to work in. These equipments can turn in an aisle, whilst Very Narrow Aisle trucks actually don't turn in the aisle. There are some aisle widths to consider with various models.
Very Narrow Aisle trucks could work in less than 6 feet areas, while several would utilize specific guidance systems like optical, rail or wire systems in order to travel within the aisles. Some various models of VNA trucks comprise Order Selectors, Turret Trucks and Swing Masts. These are popular kinds in compact retail spaces and in some storage and warehouse situations.
Narrow Aisle or NA trucks can work within aisles that are 8 feet to 10 feet. Generally these are stand-up models such as Reach Trucks. They are usually used in storage facilities and warehouses.
Wide Aisle Standard forklifts fall into this truck category and are designed to work within aisles which are more than 11 feet wide.
Stand-Up Ergonomics
The "Ergomat" padding on stand-up models offer padding on a sloped floorboard. These features are made to lessen operator exhaustion by absorbing vibration. The operator compartment is very large and has an 8" low step height which helps lessen overall body exhaustion by easing frequent entry and exit. The unit consists of polyurethane steer tires to absorb vibration and shocks caused by uneven floor in order to enable smooth traveling. For added comfort, there is a floor mat and a cushioned armrest together with a backrest designed to help keep drivers comfortable and therefore more effective while limiting exhaustion.
