The Carriage
The carriage is like a traditional lift truck since the lifting attachment could be tilted backwards and forwards from its horizontal. The tilt which is possible on this equipment exceeds more than that of the vertical masts. There is a huge range of lifting attachments available, and this positioning ability makes them as effective as possible.
Nearly all telehandlers can tilt forward to a point where the carriage is actually parallel with the ground believe it or not! Additionally, many units provide rotating carriages also. This enables the operator to radially adjust the lifting attachment. This translates to the load being capable of being tilted backwards and forwards, as well as side to side.
Load Capacity
Telehandlers have a load capacity fairly similar to that of the vertical mast model. The unit's overall capacity will be dependent on things such as: boom angle and extension, whether the unit is lifting on outriggers or on rubber tires, and the amount of boom transaction deployed, if this is applicable. As well, which lifting attachment plays a very important role, as does the wind, the grade the machine is operating on and so forth. All of these specifics could be changing on a constant basis and this gives the operator much more information to consider.
Usually, telehandlers have several load charts available in order for the operator to reference so they could determine the load capacity of a certain lift. Depending upon the configuration of the boom and the unit in particular, the load capacity could differ by thousands of pounds all together.
