Motorized Pallet Truck
A Motorized Pallet Truck normally goes by other names including: Walkie or Walkie-Rider. These pieces of equipment are basically a motorized type of a pallet jack. They come in both "Rider" versions as well as "Walkie" models.
Just as the name implies, the walkie type is designed for the operator to walk along with the unit while they transport cargo. The Rider model on the other hand, uses a small platform wherein the operator stands on. The rider models are great for frequent transporting of cargo over extended distances within manufacturing applications and warehouses. They are really maneuverable and fast.
It is not recommended to pick up and transport tall or unstable loads as there are no safety cages on these models. A rider can be the best answer if you are searching for an inexpensive method for transporting loads from point A to point B. If though, you must transport heavy loads short distances, and prefer to use a more employee-friendly unit instead of a pallet jack, the walkie model can be the right alternative.
Order Selector
An Order Selector also goes by the name of Order picker. This machine is specifically made for manual handling of less-than-pallet-load quantities in racking. There are fixed forks connected to a platform in the Man-up design. This particular platform elevates both the operator and the load with a purpose to facilitate manual loading and unloading from racking areas.
Order Selectors are typically very narrow aisle vehicles which can function in aisles of less than six feet. They are very useful pieces of equipment in physical inventories as well as in cycle counting situations. Order selectors are available in lift heights up to 40 feet high, though models which range in the 20 to 30 foot range are a lot more common.
